Special relief commissioner and OSDMA managing director Sri Bishnupada Sethi received the prestigious “Technology Sabha Award” instituted by Indian Express group, for Odisha’s Early Warning Dissemination System, chosen under the Unified Communications category.
He received the award at the awards function, hosted at Jaipur from 8-10 August.
The Early Warning Dissemination System is the first-of-its-kind automatic public address system in the country.
It warns people residing along the coast, through loud sirens, from towers installed at 122 locations, in the event of the occurrence of natural disasters like cyclones.
The system helped the state protect lives of the people during Cyclone Fani.
