Government of Odisha has requested for an additional assistance under NCRMP for undertaking construction of 162 more multipurpose cyclone shelters with related access infrastructure and construction of 100 approach roads to cyclone shelters to provide all weather connectivity. |

| 7 | Odisha Disaster Recovery Project | World Bank | Resilient Housing | Cyclone Phailin, hit Odisha during October 2013 with wind gusts of 220 KPH affecting 14,500 villages, 90,000 households & damaging 780,000 hectares of Crop. However, OSDMA in collaboration with NDMA evacuated over 1 million people & limiting the loss of life to a double digit figure. But despite limited loss of life, the catastrophic storm severely impacted the state, particularly the Districts of Ganjam, Puri & Khordha with a property damage cost of US$1.45 billion. Due to GoI intervention, World Bank Mission visited Odisha for assessment of damage & need of the Post Phailin impact i.e. specifically life, property & livelihoods of the affected. World Bank, Based on the findings, agreed to extend assistance for disaster recovery & future risk reduction. |
