National Programme for Capacity Building of Engineers in Earthquake Risk Management (NPCBEERM)

Govt. of India sponsored NPCBEERM programme is being implemented in the State of Orissa for capacity building of civil engineers in earthquake preventive design and construction. Four Engineering Colleges have been identified as State Resource Institutions (SRI) for training of engineers. These are:

  • College of Engineering & Technology, Bhubaneswar 
  • Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology, Sarang 
  • University College of University, Burla 
  • National Institute of Technology, Rourkela

13 Faculty members from these four SRIs have been trained in IIT, Kharagpur which has been declared as the National Resource Institute for Orissa. It has been programmed to train 320 engineers (190 Govt. engineers + 130 Private engineers) in the State Resource Institutes. All the expenses of the training will be borne under the project fund. One such training programme for the Govt. civil engineers has been conducted by CET, Bhubaneswar during 02.05.2007 to 10.05.2007. About 40 engineers participated in the programme.
