OSDMA with support of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India is implementing School Safety Programme – a sub component of GoI-UNDP Disaster Risk management (DRM) Programme on pilot basis in collaboration with the School and Mass Education Department. The programme is covering 150 High schools in 15 districts (10 high schools in each district). The names of the districts are indicated below.

The programme has the following objectives.
-
To identify schools in most vulnerable areas of disaster-prone districts and undertake disaster management plans in the schools selected.

To spread awareness among stakeholders and involve them in school safety programme.

To increase the capacity of students, teachers and school management to build up a culture of disaster resistance.
-
To inculcate a culture of preparedness at school level among school management, students and other stakeholders.
