The course will emphasis the safe operation of Rescue Boats in a verity of water environments. The course will be of 12 days duration having classroom based learning but the majority of time is spent on the water developing practical skills in a verity of setting. Scenario based application of rescue skills occurs in the course and includes time spent operating boats at night. The classroom based sessions will provide working level knowledge of subjects useful for a boat operator. The instructing staff is experienced ODRAF boat operators and will be using a range of equipment that is likely to encounter as part of a rescue boat response in ODISHA. The training venue is at ODRAF, OSAP 6th Battalion, Cuttack. The main water venue is the OSAP 6th Battalion Pond and Mahanadi River usually operating between Naraj and Water Sport Jetty. The water flows that will be experienced vary from being still or flat water to flowing water environments.

A six days course is designed by OSDMA and ODRAF to improve the safety and productivity of ODRAF and Fire Service professionals who may need to respond in an urban/sub-urban collapsed structure enviornment. The focus of the training will be on accident prevention, hazard identification, safe climbing and rescue skills. The course covers basic and specialised equipment, roaps, rigging, safety considerations, seane management, accesnding and decending, belaying, lowering and raising system and stretcher management in a tower enviornment.
This course is approximately 6 days/ 48 hours total with 4-8 sub hours subclass room and 38-40 hours in the field. 100 ODRAF personnel and 25 FIre Service personel will be trained in 5 batches. The overall objective of thi straining is to improve rescue awarness of the safety concern at rope rescue situations and to develop basic skills in vertical rescue and high angle rescue system.
